The "Greetings from Hawaii" mural unveiled at The Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach on Feb. 8 is one in a nationwide series by artists Victor Ving and photographer Lisa Beggs.

On Feb. 8, the resort unveiled "Greetings From Hawaii," a 50-by-75-foot mural and, as part of the opening event for the international public art event Pow! Wow!, debuted a second mural by the pool deck.

"Greetings From Hawaii" is part of the "Greetings Tour," a cross-country mural project creating new city landmarks through public art led by artist Victor Ving and photographer Lisa Beggs. The Waikiki "postcard" is the 34th and largest in the series of paintings and will be rendered on the ground and visible from the Swell Pool and Bar and guest towers.

"Alohilani is an avid supporter of the arts, and we are incredibly proud to bring this exceptional project to Waikiki," Vann Avedisian, principal at Highgate Hotels, said in a statement. "We strive to elevate the traditional guest stay by offering experiences unlike any other while supporting the local community. And by partnering with the Greetings Tour, we're helping to take the 'visit Hawaii' message global."

Hawaii-born artists Matthew and Roxanne Ortiz, who are together known as Wooden Wave, produced a poolside mural of a treehouse done in their signature hand-drawn, draftsman-like style. The mural was also unveiled on Feb. 8.
