Mauna Kea Resort, which is made up of Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and neighboring Westin Hapuna Beach Resort, has announced a trio of new activities that highlight some of Hawaii Island's most iconic tourist attractions and incorporate the resort's very own beehives.
Mauna Kea Resort has partnered with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters this year, and guests can book tours that depart from the resort's own helipad. The participants can pick the agenda, such as soaring over waterfalls before touching down for a scenic picnic, or flyovers of the island's volcanoes and lava flows.
Additionally, Mauna Kea Resort is offering amateur astronomers a chance to enjoy the Island of Hawaii's world-class status as a astronomical observation spot on-property via a partnership with Stargaze Hawaii. Astronomers come to the resort with powerful, portable telescopes every Sunday and Wednesday to offer insights on the cosmos and give participants an up-close look at the moon, planets and other celestial objects.
Finally, four new hives have been added to the resort's beekeeping program, and guests can both enjoy the honey from the hives at the property's restaurants and also don a beekeeper suit and join an hour-long interactive tour of the program, including demonstrations on how the hives function, bee behavior, hive care and maintenance, and if the hive is ready for harvest, a honey pull.
