One of the things I missed most during the past year's shutdown of travel was my annual trek to ILTM.
Besides offering a chance to meet with both luxury travel companies and advisors from around the world, it's portfolio of invitation-only events that connect top luxury advisors with supplier world have become annual reunions with colleagues from all corners of the globe.
And while ILTM this week announced that its Asia show will again be conducted virtually, organizers say they plan to resume their popular in-person shows this fall with ILTM North America at the luxury Mayakoba resort on the Mexican Caribbean.
Scheduled for Sept. 20 to 23 at the Fairmont Mayakoba, ILTM organizers say the dates and location will be especially timely as most Americans are expected to be vaccinated but still looking for destinations close to home.

"U.S. travelers are clearly looking forward to traveling again, and we are seeing boundless optimism from our clients, in particular from those based in the U.S, Mexico and the Caribbean," said event director Simon Mayle, who expressed confidence that ILTM can deliver a safe event.
While the show is centered at the Fairmont, it also includes lunches, dinners and parties across the sprawling Mayakoba resort, which Mayle said "is home to four of the world's leading and most trusted brands: Andaz, Banyan Tree, Fairmont and Rosewood."
Mayakoba is on Mexico's Riviera Maya, which in June 2020 was the first destination to receive the World Travel & Tourism Council SafeTravels Stamp, created for travelers to recognize destinations around the world that have adopted globally standardized health and hygiene protocols.
And Mayle noted that the Mayakoba complex, where guests can travel by bike and dine on the beach or in privacy by the pool, offers a natural environment for social distancing.
