This month Hyatt Hotels will welcome the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya to the Mayakoba eco-resort complex located on the Caribbean beachfront just north of Playa del Carmen.
The new property will sit on 590 acres of oceanfront, preserved mangrove and lagoon surroundings, with 214 guestrooms, including 41 suites.
Upon arrival, guests will enter a lobby with walls clad in wood, floors in stone, and ceiling in cane. There will be a circular water feature and oculus at the center of the lobby that will reflect the region's cenotes. The guestrooms are housed in 28 buildings inspired by the more than 200 bird species found at Mayakoba. The rooms are all open layout overlooking the lagoons, mangrove and resort gardens, the golf course or views of the coast. Each will have a balcony or terrace, and the 41 suites will feature private plunge pools.
There will be four restaurant concepts. Casa Amate will feature Latin American cuisine, while Cocina Milagro will be the resort's poolside open kitchen with an emphasis on seafood. OllaTaco is another poolside restaurant with ocean views, live entertainment and Yucatan specialties. OllaCeviche will be a casual beachfront and poolside dining option featuring fresh ceviches and sharing plates, as well as a tequila bar.
