Tianguis
Turistico is headed back to Acapulco for 2017, authorities in the Pacific coast
destination confirmed last week in Guadalajara, where Tianguis 2016 was winding
down.
Acapulco
was the birthplace of the annual tourism trade event, which spent its
first 36 years in that city. It left after the 2011 show, due partly to rising
violence in the destination, but returned to great fanfare in 2015.
The
city expects to have a lot more to show off to attendees when they return next
spring.
With
an investment of more than $85 million, Posadas Group is beginning the
construction of the Fiesta Americana Grand Acapulco Diamante. Likewise, the
Mayan Palace Playa will be opening this winter with 180 rooms as well as La
Plaza commercial building, which will boast a gourmet market and boutique.
Mundo Imperial Resorts acquired Princess Acapulco and Pierre Marques, and the
city is also readying a new airport terminal.
