Travel Weekly Magellan Awards add new categories to reflect unusual year

Travel Weekly's Magellan Award program to recognize the best in marketing, advertising, promotion and design in the travel industry has added new categories that recognize the extraordinary circumstances of the past 15 months.

"In every situation, there's a silver lining, and we want to hear about yours, big and small," said Travel Weekly group publisher Anthony Carnevale. "In its own way, 2020 was a year of resilience, creativity and innovation.

"We saw brands and teams demonstrate amazing agility as marketing shifted from promotion to a focus on safety and health, all the while demonstrating the strength of brands, products and services in a time of crisis."

Among the new categories, which will run across all segments, are:

  • Safety Innovation
  • Crisis Communications
  • Podcasts
  • Webinar
