Online bidding is now open for people wanting to ride along with an Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race musher.
The IditaRider Auction remains open until Jan. 20 with bids beginning at $750 for a chance to go on an 11-mile run with an Iditarod musher through the streets of Anchorage. With 76 mushers entered to compete in the 2017 Iditarod, there are plenty of chances to win a truly Alaskan experience while supporting the world's premier long-distance sled dog race.
Race fans wanting the ultimate experience can consider buying the $35,000 Burled Arch Extravaganza tour. Others might be just as happy with the Musher Bib Auction where they can bid on an autographed bib worn by one of the mushers at the ceremonial start. The nearly 1,000-mile race from Anchorage to Nome begins March 4.
