Rio joins the esports movement with The Wall Gaming Lounge

The Strip has always been a gaming destination, but the casino corridor's latest developments have been less about poker rooms and craps tables and more focused on speedy computers, fancy office chairs and gamers who don't need to chips to stake their claims.

The newest entrant into the burgeoning esports landscape on the Strip is The Wall Gaming Lounge, a 24,000-square-foot venue which opened at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino last month. In Phase 1 of its debut, The Wall offers 30 Alienware PCs for cash-prize tournaments and various challenges; console gaming stations; self-serve beverage taps with energy drinks, coffee and kombucha; and mobile ordering for food and beverage, so you can type your snack of choice right into your cellphone.

The second phase of the project, expected this fall, will add an enhanced culinary menu and new gaming options.

Created by Hybrid One, The Wall is the first permanent esports space for Caesars Entertainment and a sister venue to gaming lounges in Orange and soon Redlands, California.

The Wall Las Vegas is open Thursday-Sunday from 4 p.m.-2 a.m.
