The immersive digital exhibition of Vincent van Gogh artworks that has swept through cities across North America is coming to Las Vegas beginning July 1.
"Immersive Van Gogh" audiences are invited to "step inside" the legendary works of the post-Impressionist artist during the hourlong, timed-entry, walk-through experience. More than half a million cubic feet of projections, 60,600 frames of video and 90 million pixels are involved in the large-scale presentation.
Some of Van Gogh's best-known masterpieces -- "The Potato Eaters" (1885), "Starry Night" (1889), "Sunflowers" (1888) and "The Bedroom" (1889) -- will be among the works reimagined on a massive scale.
"Despite being unknown throughout his life, Van Gogh's artwork has created a lasting impact through its emotional richness and simple beauty," said Massimiliano Siccardi, "Immersive Van Gogh" designer.
The Las Vegas site will be the ninth location of exhibition, presented by Lighthouse Immersive and Foster Entertainment. Its exact location will be announced soon.
The event sold out in Toronto, San Francisco and Chicago. Productions are scheduled to open in Los Angeles (May 27), New York (June 10) and Dallas (June 17). Tickets for Las Vegas from July 1 through Sept. 6 start at $50 (plus tax and fees) and are available now.
Capacity will be limited in accordance with the city of Las Vegas' safety protocols in effect at that time. Additional safety precautions include touchless ticket-taking, temperature checks upon arrival, hand sanitizer stations, social distancing markers throughout the venue and digitally projected social distancing circles on the gallery floors to ensure appropriate spacing. All guests must wear a face covering at all times during their visit.
