There's nothing like grandma's cooking, and now AmaWaterways guests will get to experience the magic of the kitchen alongside French mamies.
The river cruise line is introducing a new culinary experience, Cooking with Mamie, which will be offered on the AmaDante and AmaLyra as part of the Paris and Normandy itinerary. The experience was developed in partnership with Atelier des Mamies, a culinary school in Paris, where grandmothers teach cooking classes.

"Our focus has always been on creating meaningful connections between our guests and the destinations they explore," said AmaWaterways CEO Catherine Powell. "With Cooking with Mamie, we are bringing local traditions to life in a very personal way, both onboard and ashore, while continuing to offer experiences that feel authentic, intimate and truly memorable."
A French grandmother will board the ships in Paris to lead a cooking session for groups of up to 10, where passengers will prepare traditional desserts, such as tarte Tatin and madeleines. And for guests who are adding a pre- or post-cruise land program to their itinerary, they can visit Atelier des Mamies for a workshop to learn how to make macarons.
"Cooking has always been about more than recipes; it's about sharing stories, traditions and moments together," said Chiara Nicolanti, founder of Atelier des Mamies. "Partnering with AmaWaterways felt like a natural fit, as we share a passion for local, immersive experiences. We're delighted to share this experience with their guests, offering them a chance to learn, exchange and connect with French culture in a way that feels genuine and authentic."
