American Cruise Lines says its second new modern river boat, the American Harmony, has moved to Chesapeake Shipbuilding's outfitting pier for its final touches, putting it well ahead of schedule for its Aug. 17 inaugural cruise on the Mississippi River.

American Harmony is the second of five ships being built as part of the company's modern riverboat series. The first, the American Song, went into service last fall.  And construction of the third, the American Jazz, is well underway the company said.

The American Harmony will have the same design as the Song, with all outward facing staterooms with private balconies and features like its multistory glass atrium in the center of the ship and a gangway that retracts from an opening in its bow.
