With uncertainty over the extent and length of the global Covid-19 pandemic, river cruise companies have pushed back their plans to resume sailing.

American Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) said Wednesday that it won’t be sailing until at least May 16.

AmaWaterways has pushed back the start of its European sailing season to May 31.

AQSC said the decision to extend its suspension beyond April was due to “the evolving nature of the Covid-19 pandemic and the continued wide-spread governmental restrictions across ports, cities and public institutions.”

AQSC’s sister company, Victory Cruise Lines, which operates coastal cruises, said it would delay sailings until May 17.
