Christine Duffy, president and CEO of CLIA, will be the godmother of Ama Waterways’ new river cruise ship, the Amacerto, which will be christened in Vilshofen, Germany, on May 16.
Duffy joined CLIA last year. Prior to joining the cruise line trade group, she was the president and CEO of Maritz Travel, a meeting, event and incentive travel management company.
“Over the last five years, we have seen 10% annual passenger growth in this segment of the industry,” Duffy said in a statement.
The 164-passenger Amacerto will feature twin balconies, a combination French and standard balcony, on the majority of its staterooms and suites. There will also be multiple dining venues, a heated sun deck swimming pool, fitness center and spa, and complimentary wireless Internet in all the staterooms. The Amacerto will also carry a fleet of bicycles onboard.
The vessel will sail Dutch and Belgian waterways and the Danube and Rhine rivers.
With the launch of the 164-passenger Amacerto in May, Ama’s European fleet will number nine vessels.
