National Geographic Expeditions has partnered with Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours to launch National Geographic River Cruises

For 2018, National Geographic will offer eight itineraries: seven in Europe and one on the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. The Europe cruises will sail the Rhine, Danube, Main and Moselle rivers, the inland waterways of Holland and Belgium, through France's Bordeaux region, and along Portugal's Douro Valley.

Passengers on each sailing will be accompanied by a National Geographic expert who will give educational presentations and informal discussions throughout the trip. The European cruises will also feature a National Geographic photographer who will share techniques and help guests hone their photography skills.

National Geographic River Cruises will include experiential excursions such as hikes, bike rides and learning experiences that focus on nature, culture and history.

"Bringing river cruises into our portfolio allows our travelers to reach spectacular parts of the world in a unique way," stated Nancy Schumacher, head of travel and tour operations for National Geographic.

A complete list of the river cruises went live Thursday. The product is commissionable.
