Viking will launch a purpose-built ship for the Mekong River, set to debut in late summer 2021.

The Viking Saigon will be Viking's second ship operating in Southeast Asia, joining the Viking Mekong offering Magnificent Mekong itineraries, which combine the river cruise with hotel stays in Hanoi, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City.

The three-deck, 80-passenger ship will feature Viking's signature Scandinavian design and will have a spa and fitness center, infinity pool and open-air Sky Bar on the upper deck. Every cabin will have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with a veranda or French balcony.

Currently under construction, the vessel is scheduled to debut for the Aug. 30, 2021, departure that sails between Kampong Cham, Cambodia, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Viking chairman Torstein Hagen said the ship would be "the most modern vessel on the Mekong and will feel like 'home' to our loyal Viking guests who are familiar with the comfortable design of our ships."
