Viva Cruises is adding two new itineraries to its themed-cruise lineup in 2025.

The Dusseldorf-based river cruise line will introduce a theater cruise featuring excursions and onboard programming around the performing arts, in addition to a cruise centered around the Kiel Week regatta in Germany.

The seven-night Theater Cruise will take guests on a voyage aboard the line's smallest ship -- the 88-passenger Swiss Ruby -- featuring the highlights of Germany's theater scene from Dusseldorf to Berlin along the Rhine and Elbe rivers along with smaller inland waterways like the Rhine-Herne Canal.

Guests can expect to visit the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam to learn about the history of this modern theater space and its productions in the heart of the city. There will also be a crime theater experience, featuring a tour in Duisburg centered around German homicide detective and television star Horst Schimanski.

Fares for the Theater Cruise start at $2,350 per person for a departure on April 1, 2025. There is also an Oct. 11 departure.

Sailing enthusiasts will have the chance to experience Kiel Week, the largest sailing event in Europe, from the comfort of their river cruise ship.

Onboard the Swiss Ruby, the eight-night Kiel Week cruise from Kiel to Berlin kicks off with an overnight stay in the city where guests can take part in the annual regatta and its festivities. The event, along with the Trofeo Princesa Sofia, Semaine Olympique Française and Allianz Regatta, are part of the Sailing World Cup, a world tour of sailing events used as qualifying events for the Olympic Games.

After Kiel, guests can expect to enjoy stops in Bad Bevensen, Wolfsburg and Brandenburg before disembarking in Berlin.

The Kiel Week cruise departs on June 26, 2025 and fares start at $3,150 per person.
