American Airlines on March 1 will implement a boarding
process with nine groups, and the last group will be passengers who purchase
the carrier's basic economy ticket.
The basic economy fare, which American introduced this week,
is available on some routes. Besides boarding in the last group, a basic
economy ticket restricts travelers from using overhead bins and disallows
upgrades and flight changes.
American's new boarding process is similar to the current
boarding order, but the group names have been tweaked.
