The consolidated dollar value of airline ticket sales sold by U.S. travel agencies rose 7.7% year over year in February to $8.1 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp.
The average U.S. roundtrip ticket for February 2018 was $484, up $26 from January. Average ticket prices for February 2018 were down 1% year over year.
The number of passengers increased 4.6% to 24 million. In addition, sales of Electronic Miscellaneous Documents (EMD), such as upgraded seats and checked luggage, decreased 4.8% to $6.5 million. EMD transactions decreased 7% to 112,919.
