At least two airlines, American and United, are rewarding customers with miles in exchange for Hurricane Harvey disaster relief contributions.

United Airlines sent a note to customers asking that they support the airline's humanitarian aid and disaster-relief partners: Airlink, American Red Cross, Americares, Greater Houston Community Foundation and OperationUSA.

United is giving 250 miles for donations of $50 to $99, 500 miles for donations of $100 to $249, and 1,000 miles for donations of $250 or more.

United said it has set aside up to 3 million miles for MileagePlus members who contribute to the above organizations by Sept. 15. United will match the first $200,000 in contributions.

American Airlines is awarding miles in exchange for donations made to the American Red Cross.

AAdvantage members who make a minimum $25 contribution to disaster-relief programs through Sept. 24 will earn 10 miles for every dollar donated. Mileage will appear on mileage statements within 30 days of donations being made. Donations must be made through this link.
