American Airlines will fly to three new European destinations next summer with seasonal flights from Philadelphia to Dubrovnik, Croatia; Bologna, Italy; and Berlin Tegel airport.
The flights will run from early June through late September; American will fly each of the routes either three or four times per week.
The carrier also announced six additional Europe routes for 2019. Of those, only daily Charlotte-Munich service will be year-round. American will also fly daily during the summer months from Dallas to Dublin and Munich; from Philadelphia to Edinburgh; from Chicago O'Hare to Athens; and from Phoenix to London Heathrow.
Alongside those additions, American announced the cancellation of five seasonal Europe routes and one year-round Europe route next year.
Between September and October, the carrier will end its seasonal Philadelphia-Glasgow, Philadelphia-Frankfurt, New York JFK-Edinburgh, JFK-Dublin and O'Hare-Manchester flights. American will stop operating its year-round Philadelphia-Munich route on March 30.
In other news related to its international network, American said it will end O'Hare-Shanghai service on Oct. 26 because higher fuel prices have made the route unprofitable. The move follows the carrier's announcement in May that it will end O'Hare-Beijing service on Oct. 20.
In the Americas, American will cancel year-round routes from JFK and Fort Lauderdale to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, on Nov. 3. The carrier will halt Dallas-Puebla, Mexico, and Los Angeles-Toronto in December.
