Cathay Pacific will begin service between Hong Kong and Seattle next April, flying the route four times per week.

The service will fill a portion of the void being left by Delta, which plans to cease its daily Seattle-Hong Kong flights on Oct. 4.

With the April 1 launch, Cathay Pacific will become the lone carrier in the Seattle-Hong Kong market. Seattle will be the carrier's eighth U.S. gateway, joining San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York Kennedy, Newark, Boston, Chicago O'Hare and Washington Dulles.

The airline said that adding Seattle underscores its expansion strategy of connecting Hong Kong with tech hubs around the world.

Cathay Pacific will fly the route with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft configured with business, premium economy and economy cabins.
