Four airlines will share the 12 new daily slots at Tokyo
Haneda Airport. They will be made available as soon as March.
In a final decision made on Friday, the Department of
Transportation awarded five slots to Delta, four to United, two to American and
one to Hawaiian. The DOT decision affirms the tentative Haneda slot awards the
department announced in May.
With the addition of the new slots, U.S. will be able to
operate a total of 18 daily flights to Haneda, up from the existing six.
The awarded Haneda routes are:
• American: Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles
• Delta: Seattle, Detroit, Atlanta, Portland, Honolulu
• Hawaiian: Honolulu
• United: Newark, Chicago O'Hare, Washington Dulles, Los
Travelers prefer Haneda to Tokyo Narita because it is closer to the city's
central business district.
