ATLANTA -- Delta unveiled a simplified
fare structure Aug. 19 for flights between its Cincinnati hub and
anywhere in the continental U.S.
The structure, which
Delta is calling SimpliFares, features just two first class and six
economy fares. It also reduces prices by as much as 60% on some
routes, caps one-way fares at $499 for economy and $599 first-class
within the continental U.S., and eliminates the Saturday-night stay
requirement. Delta also slashed the ticket change fee in half, from
$100 to $50.
Delta described
SimpliFares as the first of many initiatives Delta will launch over
the next several months as part of an innovative, far-reaching
transformation. But it did not say whether it plans to implement
the new structure in any other markets.
