Delta will make its return to India on Dec. 22 with the launch of daily New York-Mumbai service. Tickets go on sale this weekend.

The carrier will operate the flights on a refreshed Boeing 777-200LR featuring a Delta One business class, a Delta Premium Select cabin and coach cabin divided between Comfort Plus and standard economy seating.

Delta will compete against the thrice-weekly service of Air India on the route as well as against daily Newark-Mumbai flights operated by United and Air India.

Delta last flew to India in 2015 with a one-stop route that went from JFK to Amsterdam and on to Mumbai.

The carrier announced last May that it planned a return to Mumbai this year but did not reveal the launch date or the U.S. gateway.
