Discount Dominican carrier Arajet will begin flights between Punta Cana and Orlando Sanford Airport on Oct. 26.

By November, Arajet will be flying to six U.S. destinations. The carrier began U.S. operations in April with Miami service, and its quickly growing U.S. footprint will expand to Newark and San Juan in June. Boston and Chicago O'Hare service are slated to begin in November.

All of Arajet's U.S. routes go to Santo Domingo or Punta Cana. The airline also offers connecting service to points in Latin America from the Dominican Republic.

Arajet will be the first carrier connecting Orlando Sanford, the city's secondary airport, with Punta Cana. JetBlue, Spirit, Frontier and Southwest fly between Orlando International Airport and Punta Cana, according to Cirium data.

Arajet will operate the Orlando Sanford-Punta Cana route three times per week.
