Five passengers on a United Airlines regional flight were hospitalized Sunday evening after the aircraft encountered turbulence en route from Springfield, Mo., to Houston.
United Express Flight 5690, which was operated by SkyWest Airlines, was diverted to Waco, Texas.
In a statement, SkyWest described the injuries as "minor."
"SkyWest and United are making sure all customers get the care they need and dispatched another aircraft to fly the customers from Waco to Houston," the carrier said.
The flight was operated with a Bombardier CRJ-200 50-seat jet. The plane landed in Waco at approximately 6:30 p.m. local time, after the crew reported severe turbulence, the FAA said.
