Alaska Air Group has set a launch date of Sept. 12 for its planned Hawaiian Airlines service between Seattle and Seoul.
The route will operate five-times weekly with Airbus A330-200 aircraft featuring a business class and an economy cabin.
Seoul will be the second Asian destination from Seattle for Hawaiian, which last year became a brand within the Alaska group. In December the company announced that Hawaiian will begin connecting Seattle with Tokyo Narita on May 12.
The two routes represent the beginning of the Alaska group's plan to fly to at least a dozen international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle by 2030 under either the Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian brand.
On Seattle-Seoul, Hawaiian will face competition from Delta, Korean and Asiana airlines. Delta and Korean are joint-venture partners, offering a combined two flights per day between Seattle and Seoul, one with each brand. South Korea's Asiana also flies the route daily, Cirium flight schedule data shows.
