JetBlue has exercised an option to purchase 30 additional Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The move increases the carrier's firm A220 orderbook to 100.
JetBlue took delivery of its first A220 in December 2020 and began operations with the plane the following April. It is currently flying eight A220s, each with 140 seats. Thirty-one more of the Airbus planes are scheduled for delivery by the end of next year.
JetBlue is using the A220s to replace its fleet of smaller and less efficient Embraer E190 jets. The carrier expects to ground its last E190 in 2026.
