WASHINGTON -- A proposed new entrant named Primaris aims to offer
all first-class service at prices 70% below major airline
unrestricted coach fares.
In an application filed Friday, Primaris told the Transportation
Dept. it has $65 million in initial working capital and plans to
launch service by this summer -- if it can obtain the necessary
governmental approvals from the DOT and FAA in time.
Primaris said it would begin service with three leased 757-200
aircraft configured for 100 seats, and plans to grow that number to
15 aircraft within the first year.
Although based in Las Vegas, the company's first-year projection
envisions service between New York and eight major metropolitan
markets in the U.S., Canada, France and Germany, as well as
Boston-London (Gatwick).
Mark Morris, one of the leaders of the new venture, tried the
same concept, unsuccessfully, with Air One from April 1983 to
December 1984.
