Qatar Airways is the latest carrier to no longer be subjected to the U.S. ban on carry-on electronic devices.

"The airline gained the exemption earlier today after U.S. officials inspected the security measures in full operation at Qatar's state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport," Qatar said in a statement Thursday.

Qatar joins Emirates, Etihad and Turkish Airlines, which have been exempted over the past week.

The Department of Homeland Security announced last week that airports and airlines would be removed from the ban once they comply with enhanced security directives. The DHS issued the ban in March in response to intelligence reports that terrorist groups were seeking to use electronic devices as vessels for bombs on commercial airliners.

The ban still applies to U.S.-bound flights from airports in Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
