Marriott International opened the Four Points by Sheraton Sao Vicente Resort, marking the company's debut in Cape Verde and the brand's first resort property in Africa.

The 127-room property sits above Laginha Beach in Mindelo, a port city on Sao Vicente Island. The resort connects directly to Laginha Beach via a skybridge and features an infinity pool and pool bar on the first floor. Dining options include Bayview, a full-day restaurant, and Ocean Lounge, a poolside bar. A rooftop Skybar is set to open shortly.

The property includes a conference center with three meetings rooms, a fitness center and a spa. The spa features four treatment rooms, a sauna, Turkish steam bath and Jacuzzi. The resort also carries Four Points by Sheraton's signature Best Brews program, featuring a local Cape Verdean craft beer.

Room design draws on the island's architecture and music heritage, with wooden furniture, crafted light fixtures and patterned cement tile flooring. The property's art collection includes works by Cape Verdean artists alongside pieces by photographer Joe Wuerfel, who has documented the islands for more than 25 years.

Cape Verde is a growing destination for U.S. travelers, positioned as an accessible Atlantic island option combining beach, culture and year-round warm weather.
