Southwest has begun booking reserved and extra-legroom seats.
The carrier has also announced launch dates and city pairs for its first routes from St. Thomas.
Reservations for the airline's first-ever assigned seats, including extra-space seats at the front of the aircraft and around exit rows, opened on July 29. The bookings are now available for flights beginning Jan. 27.
Southwest also teased two weeks ago that early next year it would make St. Thomas its first new destination since its now-defunct Syracuse, N.Y., service began in 2021. Now, the airline has announced that its first destination from the U.S. Virgin Islands locale will be Orlando, with daily service starting Feb. 5. Baltimore will follow on Feb. 7, with less-than-daily service concentrated on peak demand days. The number of trips per week will vary the airline said, with 12 round trips scheduled during the first four weeks of operation.
Southwest will compete with Spirit on Orlando-St. Thomas and will be the lone airline flying Baltimore-St. Thomas, Cirium flight schedule data shows.
The airline said it will announce its next new destination in August.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this report erroneously said Southwest would be announcing another St. Thomas route in August. The airline will announce its next new destination in August.
