TAP Air Portugal cuts JFK-Lisbon flight

NEWARK, N.J. -- TAP Air Portugal will halve its daily nonstop service to Lisbon from the U.S. as of Oct. 27, cutting its one flight from New York's Kennedy to concentrate operations at nearby Newark.

The carrier will continue to offer one daily, nonstop flight from Newark, via Airbus A340 equipment.

TAP blamed both economic aftereffects of Sept. 11 and rising operating costs for the move, but said it hopes to restore Kennedy flights as soon as conditions improve.
