Qatar Airways has ordered 160 Boeing widebodies. The agreement, which was formalized in a signing ceremony in Doha on Wednesday that involved President Donald Trump, includes 130 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9s as well as options for another 50 Dreamliners or 777s.
It's the largest widebody order for Boeing, the company said, and also its largest Dreamliner order. Delivery timelines have not been released.
The White House on Wednesday valued the deal at $96 billion, though that figure likely does not include the substantial discounts from list prices that are typical in commercial aircraft purchases, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Wednesday's signing ceremony also included Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer and Qatar emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
Trump and the Qatar royal family made headlines earlier this week when the royal family offered a gift of a Boeing 747 plane to replace current planes used as Air Force One. The president said he intended to accept the gift and responded to those with ethical concerns, saying it would be a good deal for U.S. taxpayers.
"Only a fool would not accept this gift on behalf of our country," he wrote on Truth Social.
ABC has reported that the aircraft would be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation after his term ends, citing anonymous sources.
