United Airlines on March 31 will begin service at Paine Field, an alternative to Seattle-Tacoma Airport.

Tickets are on sale for flights to San Francisco (four times daily) and Denver (twice daily).

With the launch, United will join Alaska Airlines at Paine, which is slated to open for business as a commercial airport with the launch of Alaska’s service on Feb. 11.

Between the two airlines, United and Alaska will make 24 daily departures from Paine, which is the maximum number of departures that its new two-gate commercial terminal is designed to support.

Paine is located near the city of Everett, 38 miles north of Sea-Tac.
