American Express Global Business Travel CEO Doug Anderson
will step down from his role Oct. 1, to be replaced by Paul Abbott, currently
American Express' chief commercial officer of global commercial services.
Anderson was appointed CEO in August 2016.
Greg O'Hara, executive chairman of GBT's board, lauded
Anderson for his time with GBT, which included leading the company through its
acquisition of HRG last year.
Abbott, has sat on GBT's board for the last four years. He
started his career in travel with British Airways. He has been with American
Express for 24 years, serving in a variety of roles.
"At American Express, Paul has led the rapid expansion
of the B2B payments business around the world and introduced innovative new
products and services for businesses of all sizes," O'Hara said in a
statement. "This track record, combined with his experience in travel and
background on the GBT board, make him the ideal person to lead GBT going forward."
After Oct. 1, Anderson will advise GBT during a transition
period.
