ST. LOUIS -- Internet Inc., a travel management company here,
signed a deal with Toronto-based GTS Global Travel Solutions to
strengthen its presence to the north. Internet Inc., founded by a
group of travel agencies led by Maritz Travel, is best known for
its NorthStar system, designed to be a single point of contact for
global corporate travel management.
"GTS is a strong player in the Canadian market," said Bob
Diekmann, president of Internet Inc. and corporate vice president
of Maritz Travel. "Its franchise will strengthen our capabilities
in Canada, and we will be able to provide seamless service to our
North American and global clients."
According to Michael Simeone, GTS president, the deal enables
GTS "to capitalize on the opportunities presented by "[the] Nafta
and open skies [agreements]." Internet Inc. accounts for about $26
billion in annual sales.
