Led by Sens. Tom Carper (D-Delaware) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio) of the Homeland Security & Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, the hearing will be Sorenson's first testimony since Marriott divulged a massive security breach of its Starwood network to the public on Nov. 30, 2018.

In its latest update, Marriott has estimated that as many as 383 million guest records -- including combinations of names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, passport numbers and payment card numbers among other personal identifiers -- were potentially exposed.

The subcommittee also will hear from Equifax CEO Mark Begor on that company's 2017 data breach.

The hearing will include a panel of government agency and nonprofit representatives, who will discuss policies that could help prevent future cyberattacks and data breaches.
