The second hotel under InterContinental Hotels Group's (IHG) upscale Hotel Indigo brand in Atlanta opened for business with the debut of a 142-room hotel in the city's historic College Park district.

Hotel Indigo Atlanta Airport-College Park, which IHG says is the first new hotel to open near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in two years, is owned and managed by College Park Hotels. The hotel includes a full-service restaurant, a fitness center and a 24-hour business center.

IHG has more than 50 Hotel Indigos worldwide, including about three-dozen in the U.S. The 140-room Hotel Indigo Midtown Atlanta, IHG's other Hotel Indigo in Atlanta, opened in 2004.

Among larger U.S. markets, Atlanta this year has performed at the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to revenue growth. For the first quarter, Atlanta hotels' revenue per available room increased 5.3% from a year earlier, compared to an 8.1% increase for the largest 25 U.S. markets, according to Smith Travel Research.
