Club Med plans to open the Club Med Miches Playa
Esmeralda on the northeast
coast of the Dominican Republic in December 2019.
The all-inclusive resort will be the company's first 5 Trident
resort to open in the Americas (5 Tridents are the equivalent of 5 stars in
Club Med's rating system).
"Club Med first discovered the unmatched beauty of the
Dominican Republic in 1978, when our resort in Punta Cana opened its doors,"
said Xavier Mufraggi, CEO, North America.
The new resort in Miches marks Club Med's first and biggest
new resort concept in the Caribbean in 25 years.
Miches is an hour from Punta Cana Airport and features miles
of untouched coastline, a nature reserve, Samana Bay and Montana Redonda, a "rounded
mountain" with panoramic views.
The 93-acre resort will feature adult-exclusive areas (a
concept currently in place in the Zen Oasis area of Club Med Punta Cana), kids'
clubs for ages from four months to 17 years and an array of land and water
sports.
