Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, will reopen its doors in October, marking another milestone in the recovery and resurgence of Puerto Rico.

The resort, which sits on 1,400 acres of the former Laurance Rockefeller estate 40 minutes west of San Juan, made its debut in December 2012 and has been closed since Hurricane Maria hit last September.

All 114 beachfront guest rooms and suites have been redone. Su Casa, the five-bedroom villa that was originally home of pilot Clara Livingston, has been modernized and updated. Spa Botanico will feature new treatments as well as products made in the on-site apothecary.

Dining venues include the poolside Encanto Beach Club Bar & Grill, which will offer a new seafood dinner menu and light fare at lunch.

The Positivo Sandbar beachside restaurant will debut a ceviche bar and La Cocina Culinary Center will host cooking classes and private dinners.
