A fire at the Club Med Punta Cana on the morning of Sept. 12 resulted in "significant damage" to the resort center, which includes the reception area, the main restaurant and pool bar. The resort will close until Nov. 9.

The resort reported no serious injuries to guests and staff. Club Med said guestrooms, the Hispaniola and Indigo restaurants, and the Zen Oasis and Exclusive Collection spaces were not harmed.

All guests scheduled to arrive in the Dominican Republic while the resort is closed will be automatically re-accommodated at the Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda.

"Thanks to the swift and efficient response of our on-site team and local authorities, the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished, with no serious injuries reported to our guests and staff," the resort said in a statement.
