Florida Keys hotels, campgrounds, RV parks and marinas will
reopen June 1, though social-distancing restrictions will limit occupancy to
50%.
According to an update from Monroe County, lodging providers
will be required to adhere to enhanced Covid-19 safety and cleaning protocols drafted
by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. The
county also said it will seek approval from the Florida Department of Business
and Professional Regulation to allow vacation rental operations to resume.
The changes come as county officials prepare to lift
checkpoints on the two main roads connecting the South Florida mainland to the
Keys. Tourists have been blocked from coming into the Florida Keys since March
22.
Airport screenings and bus restrictions in the Keys are also
set to end June 1.
