French investor buys Miami Beach landmark National Hotel

Claude Dray, a French investor and Art Deco enthusiast who has developed properties in New York, Paris, and St. Tropez, France, among other locations, has acquired the landmark Art Deco-style National Hotel in Miami Beach from Florida Resort Management.

The purchase price and Drays plans for the property were not disclosed.

The 151-room hotel dates back to 1939 and is located on Collins Avenue alongside such familiar properties as the Setai, Delano, Raleigh and Ritz Carlton.

The National Hotel is considered by many to be one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture. Renovated in 2003, it also features a 200-foot-long swimming pool that is believed to be one of the longest in Florida.
