Christopher Nassetta
Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta will become chairman of the
World Travel and Tourism Council in April when the group meets for its annual
global summit in Buenos Aires.
He succeeds Gerald Lawless, head
of tourism and hospitality for Dubai Holdings.
Nassetta currently serves as WTTC's vice chairman for North
America. He has been a member of the council's executive committee since 2011.
Among other issues, Nassetta identified security, climate
change and global youth unemployment as issues that the organization can work
with governments to create "smart plans."
WTTC's executive
committee chooses the chairman, who serves a two-year term.
WTTC is a global advocacy group comprised of multinational
companies with an interest in the travel industry.
