Historic Hotels of America adds the Buccaneer on St. Croix

The 138-room Buccaneer resort, owned and operated since 1947 by the Armstrong family on St. Croix, has been named a member of Historic Hotels of America, an arm of the non-profit National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Washington-based organization dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing America's communities.

The Buccaneer, located about three miles east of Christiansted on St. Criox, opened as an 11-room inn in 1947. The resort's 60th anniversary in 2007, also known as its "Diamond Jubilee," will feature numerous special events, packages and rates.
