Los Angeles' first hotel under
InterContinental Hotel Group’s Hotel Indigo badge is scheduled to open next year about a
block north of the L.A. Live entertainment district in that city’s downtown
area.
The Hotel Indigo Downtown Los
Angeles will be part of the $1 billion Metropolis mixed-use project being built
by Shanghai-based Greenland Group. The 18-story hotel will have 350 rooms.
The property is about five
blocks from the old Wilshire Grand hotel site, which is being redeveloped by
Korean Air and Hanjin Group into a mixed-use project that is slated be the tallest
U.S. building west of the Mississippi River when it opens in 2017. That project
will include a 900-room InterContinental hotel, which will be that brand’s
largest in the Americas region.
