IHG Hotels & Resorts plans to import Ruby, the lifestyle brand it acquired earlier this year, to the United States, the company announced Tuesday.
IHG in a statement said it was targeting U.S. city centers for the upscale "urban micro" European brand it acquired in February for about $116 million.
"Much like its European foothold, IHG's strategic growth plan for Ruby will prioritize major U.S. urban markets and accommodate a range of project types including new build, conversion and adaptive reuse," IHG said.
At the time of the acquisition, 20 Ruby properties were open in Europe, and now there are another 14 in IHG's development pipeline.
