InterContinental New York Barclay reopens after renovation

The InterContinental New York Barclay has reopened after a $180 million renovation that took 20 months to complete.

The hotel’s décor features antique maps and Hudson River landscapes, while the property’s redesigned lobby includes a marble grand staircase.

Each of the updated 704 guestrooms features eagle medallion doorplates that were preserved from the original hotel, while the hotel added a Gin Parlour that is inspired by Dutch and English gin bars of the 1920s.

The hotel had closed for renovations in 2014. That year, 80% of the property was acquired by an affiliate of Qatar-based Constellation Hotels Holding.

The midtown Manhattan hotel first opened in 1926 as The Barclay.
