‘Ka’ shows canceled after performer falls to her death

Performances of “Ka,” the Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, have been canceled until further notice, following the death of a performer during a performance on Saturday.

According to reports, Sarah Guillot-Guyard, 31, fell about 50 feet during the production, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Cirque du Soleil said, “We have been working with the appropriate authorities and have offered our full cooperation.”

Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberte said Guillot-Guyard had been performing in “Ka” since 2006, when the show made its debut.

“We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night," Laliberte said. "Our focus now is to support each other as a family.”
